Police said a Martinez mother stabbed her 19-year-old daughter to death in an apartment complex on Fig Tree Lane Tuesday afternoon.
The teenaged homicide victim was identified by police as Shaniyah Monae Kazee of Martinez. Her 36-year-old mother, Brittney Evanna Kazee, was arrested, the Martinez Police Department said. “The suspect is the mother of the victim,” MPD wrote.
Police officers were first called to the apartment complex at 1:41 p.m. Nov. 18 to investigate “two adult females in a physical altercation,” the police department wrote. “Officers were enroute when (911) callers advised that someone was stabbed.”
Three minutes later, officers found Shaniyah Kazee unconscious on the ground within the complex’s parking lot, according to MPD. The teenager was transported to John Muir Walnut Creek hospital and was later declared deceased.
Brittney Kazee was detained and booked into Martinez Detention Facility jail on suspicion of homicide. Police did not release a motive behind the deadly stabbing.
