Seth’s sudden passing has left family, friends, colleagues, and community members deeply saddened. He was widely admired for his visionary leadership, generosity, and dedication to nurturing the next generation of civic-minded leaders.
For 25 years, Seth played a transformative role at CSUMB, helping to shape a culture of service, mentorship, and meaningful community engagement across the Monterey Bay region.
Under his guidance, the Service Learning Institute grew into a cornerstone of the university, fostering partnerships between students, faculty, and local organizations, including the Monterey Peace and Justice Center.
Thousands of students were inspired by Seth’s belief in the power of community, and countless community partners benefitted from his expertise, encouragement, and unwavering support.
Colleagues describe Seth as a remarkable leader who combined passion with humility. He had a unique ability to connect with people, listen deeply, and inspire them to make a difference.
Students often spoke of his mentorship, noting that he not only taught them about service but also modeled kindness, integrity, and the importance of giving back. His dedication to creating opportunities for growth, learning, and civic engagement left a lasting impact that will continue for years to come.

Seth’s family has announced the service arrangements to honor his memory:

- 11:30 a.m. – Burial at Mission Memorial Park, 1915 Ord Grove Ave, Seaside, CA 93955
- 3:00–7:00 p.m. – Shiva at the Pollack Home, 70 Via Buena Vista, Monterey, CA 93940
CSUMB has also announced plans to host a future event to celebrate Seth’s life and share ways to continue his impactful legacy of service and mentorship.
