Tamez emphasized the commitment of his detectives and the Organized Crime Unit, noting the intensity of their efforts as they work to identify and apprehend those responsible.
“Some of these individuals haven’t even slept since yesterday at 8 o’clock,” Tamez said. “It’s a relentless persistence to make sure that the family gets justice… We want to ensure there is justice in this case for this young man.”
The chief also directed a strong message to parents, urging them to take a more active role in preventing violence involving local youth.
“Parents need to get involved,” he said. “Police officers can only do so much to protect and prevent shootings like yesterday and Sunday’s. Parents have to do their jobs. They need to step up and be parents. We should never have these children out roaming the streets at this hour with weapons.”
