A devastating shooting took place Friday morning in Indian River County, resulting in the death of sheriff’s deputy Terri Mashkow and injuring two others while they were executing an eviction notice, as stated by local officials.
The event transpired when deputies from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office came to a home to enforce a court-sanctioned eviction.
While carrying out their duties, the suspect allegedly began shooting, hitting three of the deputies.
All three deputies who sustained injuries were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center located in Fort Pierce.
The emergency response involved numerous sheriff’s vehicles, along with helicopters from both Martin County and St. Lucie County.
Vero Beach Mayor John Cotugno affirmed that the deputies responding were in the process of executing an eviction when the shooting occurred.
